Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to my first blog post for FAA 300! Since anyone who reads this will presumably be hearing all about my escapades as a senior at UIUC, I thought I'd take this opportunity to talk a little bit about myself. First, my dance interests: finding dance in unexpected places, particularly in non-arts related subjects, and illustrating those subjects through the language of dance. I've created works based on mathematics and video games, and have concepts in the works for others based on martial arts and molecular physics.

Outside the realm of dance, my interests include wirework jewelrymaking, ceramics, photography, theater, music, and video gaming. I also enjoy problem solving and basic computer programming. I had a personal blog for a while, but it trailed off due to lack of time and technical difficulties. Hopefully this blog will continue even after the course has finished.

In the future I'd like to immerse myself in choreographic work. Perhaps one day I will own my own company, but I am also excited by the prospect of freelancing. This past spring I secured a gig choreographing an independant film in the Champaign area, and the experience was one of the best of my life. I could see myself having a happy and fulfilling career doing that sort of quirky "odd job" choreographic projects.

Well I think that's all for this post...except, of course, for the shameless plug for the movie referenced above. Press Start, coming to DVD September 25, and opening at...some theater in the Champaign area...more info on that when the cast and crew know themselves ;-) www.PressStartMovie.com --be sure to check out the Bonus Levels!
